Do you remember Michele Benjamin? She is an artist and jewelry maker who visited Cambodia Fall 2019, thanks to the State Department's Arts Envoy program. While self-isolating in New York she is using her jewelry making skills and re-tooling to make personal protective masks for hospitals and fellow New Yorkers. Constraints and challenges always spark creativity and innovation! Great to see an Arts Envoy joining the fight against COVID-19.

Last Saturday, the American Corner in Luang Prabang, organized an art exhibition at the Luang Prabang library to feature artwork inspired by wildlife protection. American artist Michele Benjamin taught art and jewelry design to local artisans and students from the Luang Prabang Art Institute as part of the #SavingWildlifeThroughArt program. The event showcased student creations for a large public, who included local Lao government officials and Deputy Chief of Mission Colin Crosby. A fantastic day at the American Corner, Luang Prabang’s all-in-one learning center with free access to books, WiFi, English learning and lots of great events. Have you visited us yet? 😁
